This is the new sensation in the world wide web. After APOCALPYTICA which was quite interesting in the beginning but to me got totally out of focus because it was simply nothing new, VIKTORIYA YERMOLYEVA plays various rock and metal classics on piano including guitar and bass lines at the same time. Said this you might think that this is nothing new. But if you take a listen to her version of METALLICAs Master of Puppets you will know what I mean when I say that I got totally overwhelmed by the great sound of her piano and the immense dynamic range she covers with her playing. She includes all the amazing aspects you might be missing when listening to the S&M album where METALLICA simply do not care about any classical orchestra arrangement…

MACHINE HEAD are ever since synonomical for agressive and modern thrash metal. The last album came along with a decent portion of speed. Will this change now? The new track “Locust” which is now available on youtube for free streaming shows a totally different side of MACHINE HEAD. Melodic vocals, underlaying groovy rythm and even a clean “accoustic” break accompanied by nice guitar leads in the middle of very modern sounding break downs.

I have posted yesterday that you can send me your tracks for a possible review and had one track in my mailbox immediatly. I will put the review online later that day but I have already listened to it several times. So keep up sending me your music, new suggestions are always welcome and I guess the people out there want to discover new music as well. No limits. Extreme metal, hardrock or even jazz… Everything is welcome!

At the moment we are sorting out bands and we have several bands in our focus which we want to sign to either SUPREME CHAOS RECORDS or PREVISION MUSIC. Be sure – very interesting bands, nice guys and awesome live appearances. I hope we can give you some more informations in the near future – and you can discover some more interesting music.
Also I have booked new artists for the METAL NIGHTS, some good old Swedish friends as well as very old school stuff. But this is already for 2010 and cannot be revealed, yet.

Tomorrow I will be attending a post rock / hardcore / metal concert with the great TEPHRA in Karlsruhe / Sadtmitte. Also on stage: ANTITAINMENT, TOM MESS and TRAGIC VISION. Of course I will put up a live review shortly after I am back home.

You may now be asking – what was about OPETH in the headline? Well I recently found an old interview with Peter / Mikael from OPETH on my harddisc which I did back in December 2005 on the Ghost Reveries tour for Powermetal.de. There are some really interesting questions and answers. I will put up that interview the next day in this blog…

As there was a lot of Swedish death metal in this post today I have to post one track from a very cutting-edge band called EDGE OF SANITY. It has a very catchy chorus with an outstanding vocal line and it actually is a cover version from Dan Swanös “new band” NIGHTINGALE. Check it out here:

This is also a little hint for several activities going on in the back at the moment. Besides of dealing with eBays API insanity. They are changing all the attributes and – BAM – just some months later your eBay integration code does not work anymore. That is where I left my night – thank you eBay …

I am still suffering from a heavy hangover. Yesterday was more than just a simple concert. This was our way to say goodbye to a friend who passed away in a tragic accident at the beginning of the year.

But first was a football match which I wanted to see in the stadium (VfB Stuttgart vs. 1 FC Nürnberg). Of course this was already the time when the first beers had to be eliminited. The match was bad and the stadium looked kind of weired with a big hole on one side (they are currently tearing down and rebuilding one tribune after another). But it was fun to be there with some friends. Right after the stadium it was time for the concert. And it was a tribute – the last concert of the 22 Coltsuckers after their singer “Vadder” died in his car which caught fire in January. And the place was crowded with poeple who knew him not only as a musician but also as a friend.

We missed the first band LÄBERKNECHT because we had to pick up some people and of course because of the next beers. But we will have them at the METAL NIGHTS in December with BRESCHDLENG. So I will report about this band later this year.

I already saw INNER STRENX or shared the stage with them – I cannot remember. Guess it must have not been as good as yesterday. They put up a decent show with heavy groove metal. I did not see that much of them, actually, but the few songs I saw of them convinced me. They really rocked!

There was only one band this evening everybody was waiting for: THOSE TWENTY TWO COLTSUCKERS. They used changing singers this evening to replace Max. And hell yeah – it worked! This was heavy southern rock as dirty as it could be.  I was not able to hold back anymore and found myself in front of the stage all the time (except when I needed another beer – guess I poored half of it on other people this evening – but well I was not alone with that). Everybody was celebrating – the band was no longer the band on the stage – people came on stage, even poeple without any clothes but 22 COLTSUCKERS stickers on their intimacy. Everybody was drinking heavily, beer was sprayed all over the place and in the end there were some people (from the audience) laying on the stage – totally done. At the end noone cared about reason, all restraint was gone. I remember me standing arm in arm with a close friend (who was also really close to Max) in front of the stage rocking our butts off. I wish that this moment would have lasted forever… This was a decent way to say farewell to a friend. His former girlfriend (also the mother of his son) came on stage and thanked everyone for the support. This was a heavy moment – no way to resist the need to cry.

I was both happy and mournful after this last live event. So I had a lot more beers with some friends. My head reminds me today – obviously it was too much alcohol…

I will not reveal that much details but I was listening to the upcoming UNDERTOW album. They have finished the recordings and are already preparing the artwork stuff for the full product. The album is entitled “Don’t Pray To The Ashes” and contains 9 songs with the typical UNDERTOW style. There are some really melancholic and slow songs as well as pounding and driving pieces. Guess this is the right music for people loving Crowbar, Down and the sorts.

This is for surely an album worth to check out when it is released.
